Obituary for Frank Malinconico

MALINCONICO, Frank, age 89, of Saddle Brook, died on October 21, 2014. Born and raised in Brooklyn for 25 years, he lived in Garfield for 17 years settling into Saddle Brook 47 years ago. After serving in the Army during WWII, he worked as a weaver for Fortsmann Mill in Paterson then Schumacher Textiles in Hawthorne for over 40 years. During his employment, he learned the barber trade and worked for Sam Stingi Barber Shop in Garfield for over 26 years retiring from both jobs in 1990. He was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, a volunteer with the St. Therese Choir, and an Assistant Boy Scout Master of Troop 33. In addition, he was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. - Passaic Local, the Garfield Catholic War Veterans, and a life member of the Garfield VFW Post 2867. He is predeceased by his wife Theresa in 2012. He is survived by a son, Anthony Malinconico. Visiting Wednesday 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Thursday, October 23, 2014, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a 10:30 am chapel service. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting memorial donations. The Malinconico family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
