SILKOWSKI, Fred Robert, age 84, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on November 11, 2014. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, a former member of the Garfield VFW, and he was a partner of the Midnight Sun, Garfield, for 31 years retiring in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Claire (nee Perrelli), a daughter, Debra Loeser and husband Tom, a son, Thomas Colacino, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Goodman and husband Nick, and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Nicholas Jr. Dear brother of Lucy DiGirolamo and husband Vito, dear brother-in-law of Catherine Sansivieri, and loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Edward in 2013. Visiting Friday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Saturday, November 15, 2014, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to Claire for the Autism Society of America.
