Salvatore Orobello
OROBELLO, Salvatore, age 98, of Lodi, died on December 16, 2014. Born in Bolognetta, Sicily-Italy, he lived there until he was 54 moving to the Bronx for 33 years, Garfield 8 years, and Lodi the past 3 years. In Italy, he served in the Italian Army - Calvary Division during WWII, and then became a Carabiniere and a truck driver before moving to America. Once here, he worked as a custodian for 10 years for St. Lucy Catholic School in the Bronx, was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield, but most important, he was a family man. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Concetta (nee Benanti), three children, Rosalia Aiello and husband Salvatore, Antonina Benigno and husband Salvatore, and Antonino Orobello and fiancé Elizabeth, six grandchildren, Philip & Kathy, Francesca & John, Rosalba & Chris, Salvatore & Lisa, Erika & Jeff, and Salvatore & Chrissy, and 8 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Nicolas, Alexandra, Christian, Easton, Marco, and Anthony. He is predeceased by his siblings, Antonino, Francesco, Maria Carletti, Rosa Castelbuono, and Felice LoFaso. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral is Friday, December 19, 2014, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Entombment St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Orobello family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
