HAMMOND, Rose A. (nee Salerno), age 92, of Parsippany, died on February 6, 2015. Born and raised in Garfield, she lived there for 82 years before moving to Parsippany 10 years ago. She worked as a supervisor for Bendix, Corp. in Teterboro until 1959 when she left to raise her family. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and Our Lady of Sorrows Church, both in Garfield, a former Girl Scout and Brownie Leader, past president of the 5th Ward Women’s Democratic Club in Garfield, and a member of the St. Peter’s Golden Agers Club in Parsippany. She is predeceased by her husband William L. in 2008, two brothers, Frank and Bill Salerno, and four sisters, Angela Gambrill, Phyllis Kimball, Frances Lupusnak, and Teresa Aliamo. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Guerrero and her husband Ray, her loving dog Carly, a brother, Anthony Salerno, and a sister, Marie Matross. Visiting Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Wednesday, February 11, 2015, arriving 10 am at the Aloia Funeral Home with an 11 am funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
