CHARLES, Betty Jean (nee Brennan), age 76, of Elmwood Park, died on April 19, 2015. Born in Archbald, PA, she lived there for 16 years moving to Elizabeth for 25 years settling in Elmwood Park 35 years ago. She retired in 2001 as the dietary manager for Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth where she worked for about 40 years. Betty was an accomplished bowler, which was her passion. She was inducted in the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame, and during the 1978 PanAmerican Games, she was the winner of two gold medals and three silver in bowling. Betty was also an avid fan of her beloved Mets and Giants. She was a member of the Elmwood Park Home Owners Associates and tried not to miss their monthly Mt. Airy Lodge casino trips which she enjoyed so much. She is predeceased by her husband William Charles, a sister MaryAnn Hobson, and a brother, William Brennan. Loving aunt of Karen Tildsley, Helen Baker, Steven Brennan, William Brennan, and Kelly Brennan, and great aunt of many great-nieces and great-nephews. The memorial service to be 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Aloia Funeral Home with a 6:30 pm chapel service.
