BASSETT, Chester A., Jr., age 74, of Garfield, died on July 16, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he settled in Garfield over 20 years ago. He was a Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Vietnam War, and a former member of the VFW in New York. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rose Tyahla, five sons, Chester, III, Maxwell, Tyler, Joseph, and Lewis Bassett, two step-sons, Peter and Jeffrey Tyahla, several grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Jacob Bassett, his parents, Genevieve and Chester, Sr., and his step-father Carmen Bracchitta. Memorial visitation will be Thursday 5 to 9 pm with the chapel service and military honors to take place at 8:30 pm. The Bassett family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077). Condolences/Directions visit aloiafuneral.com
