Obituary for Edward Matyi

Edward  Matyi
MATYI, Edward, 79, passed away peacefully at home, August 28, 2015. He was a life long resident of the historic " Clara Barton " section of Edison, NJ, on Brower Avenue. He served in the US Army in Korea from 1955 to 1957, and after returning to the states, Edward joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a member of the Edison Democratic Association and the American Legion #324 Clara Barton Post. He was employed by the Edison Board of Education before retiring. He was very proud of his Hungarian heritage, enjoyed talking with his lifelong childhood friends, loved listening, singing and whistling to music, traveling, trips to Atlantic City, and eating his favorite Hungarian dishes home cooked by his wife and daughter. He is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Mary ( Madochik) Matyi. He survived by his devoted wife of 53 years the former Katherine Ann Bower, two daughters, Dawn Matyi of Lakewood, CO., and Roseann Ward and husband Leif Alan Ward of Edison. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Steven Matyi of Keyport, NJ, Mary Lou Amaczi of Sayreville, NJ and Jo-Anne Karecki of East Haven, CT. All services were private.
