SZCZYPIEN, Patricia Jean, age 61, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on February 1, 2016. Jean graduated in 1976 with her B.S. Degree and in 1990 with her M.Ed. Degree from William Paterson University working as a teacher from 1976-1977 at Bishop Navagh Regional School, Paterson, and 1977-1994 at Corpus Christi Grammar School, Has. Hts. She became the Principal at Corpus Christi School for 10 years before retiring in 2004. She was also the principal of The Learning Center in Clifton in 2006, and was a CCD teacher at St. Stanislaus Kostka church for many years. In her retirement, she was the recreation assistant at the Dell Ridge Rehab Center in Paramus. Patricia was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. She will be remembered for her great faith, strong will, and caring ways. Patricia had a kind smile and made a difference in the lives of her family and friends. Her students were her "children" and she took joy in working with the students and staff at school and later at the rehabilitation center. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Garfield, and served as an Eucharistic Minister at Corpus Christi. Beloved sister of Christine Kotwica, loving God Mother of Edward Kotwica, III and Christopher Kotwica and wife Jennifer, dear niece of Anthony and Mary Rebisz, and a loving cousin to many. She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Jean Szczypien. Visiting Thursday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Friday, February 5, 2016, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, Garfield. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack. The Szczypien family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
