Tony Francis  Amico
AMICO, Tony Francis, age 90, of Clifton, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 29, 2017. Tony was born October 16, 1926 in Passaic. In 1944, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in WWII until being honorably discharged in 1946. After serving, Tony was invited to tryout for the St. Louis Cardinals and remained a lifelong baseball fan. On June 26, 1949, he married Santa Gebbia in Garfield. Tony was employed at Passaic General Hospital for 12 years. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Santa (Gebbia), his parents, Filomena and Manzueto Amico, and his brothers, Michael and Salvatore Amico. Devoted father of Debra Bassani and husband Vincent, Donna Carpentier and husband Robert, David Amico and wife Jay, and Daren Amico, cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren, Corey, Nicholas, Antonia, Vincent, Travis, Michael, Armand, Joseph, Ryan, Gabrielle and Dylan, and 3 great-grandchildren, Peter, Charlie and Matthew. Visiting Tuesday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Wednesday, February 1, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton. Interment Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
