WERNER, Lorraine Mary (nee Handzo), age 79, of Garfield, died on March 5, 2017. Born and raised in Garfield for 33 years, she moved to North Arlington for 10 years returning to Garfield 36 years ago. She was employed 35 years by the City of Garfield serving as the Garfield City Clerk from 1976 to 1987. She was a parishioner and very involved with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Garfield where she was a Church Board of Trustees Member, Church Secretary, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Preschool Director and Teacher, and a member of both the Mary and Martha Ladies Auxiliary and Church Choir. Outside of her church community, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Archer Edler Drum and Bugle Corps in PA, a member of the Garfield Republican County Committee, and a share holder and avid Green Bay Packer fan. Lorraine is predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” Werner, and her brother Raymond. She is survived by her loving sister, Arlene Bergamini and her husband Bob, her sister-in-law Audrey Handzo, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Visiting Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Thursday, March 9, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Garfield. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Garfield.
