CONTE, Gerardo “Jerry”, age 79, of Lodi, died on March 19, 2017, Born in Palomonte, Salerno, Italy, he lived there for 18 years emigrating to the United States in 1956 living in Garfield 17 years and Passaic Park 8 years moving to Lodi 36 years ago. He was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, a member of the San Pio Prayer Group, Garfield, and a member of the Italian American Forum of Lodi. He was a mason all of his life working with the Laborers’ Union - Local 325 in Jersey City. He is predeceased by his siblings, Maria and Francesco Conte. Beloved husband of 48 years to Maria (nee Massa), loving father of Irene Benevenga and husband Mario, and Susanna Scalcione and husband Anthony, cherished grandfather of Massimo, Gabriella, Daniela, Antonio, and Marina, and dear brother of Domenico Conte, Lucia (Antonio) Parisi, Antonio Conte, and Rosina Conte. He was also a loving brother-in-law to Felicia Parisi, Vittorio (Lesina) Massa, Domenica (Alessandro) Benevenga, and Josephine (Gerardo) Mastrolia, and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visiting Wednesday 6 to 9 pm and Thursday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Friday, March 24, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 am followed by a 9:30 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield.
