Obituary for James Thomas McNulty

James Thomas McNulty
McNULTY, James Thomas, our family patriarch, died peacefully at his home in South Orange, NJ, on March 24, 2017, after a long illness.

Born to Mary (Williams) and E. James McNulty in New York City on May 21, 1946, Jim excelled in math and science at St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School, Bronx, NY, where he was a member of the boy’s choir and a soloist in high school musicals. He completed undergraduate studies at Fordham University, and progressed to graduate work in Organic Chemistry at Syracuse University. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force where he was in the Civil Engineering squadron until 1973.

A longtime resident of Perkasie, PA, Jim worked at Rohm and Haas Co. in Springhouse, PA, for 33 years as an ion exchange application specialist. He was well respected by colleagues, customers and academia.

Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maureen Carroll McNulty, his children and their spouses, Katherine (and Andrew) Crenshaw of South Orange, NJ and Amy (and Siwat Thitiwatana) McNulty of Woodside, NY, and his three grandchildren Lauren and James Crenshaw and Sam Thitiwatana. He is also survived by his sisters Carol (and Charles) Bonar of Huntersville, NC and Theresa (and R. Timothy) Matthews of Binghamton, NY, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Jimmy is fondly remembered for his kindness and welcoming spirit and a great smile. He was an avid fly fisherman, golfer, traveler and family man.

The family will be holding a private memorial service.

Special thank you to Seniors In Place in Springfield NJ, and Atlantic Home Care and Hospice in Morristown, NJ for all their help.

In honor of Jim’s memory, the family requests donations be sent to water.org (water.org/ecards/) or the Alzheimer’s Assoc. (http://www.brightfocus.org/alzheimers).
