Robert E.  Williams
WILLIAMS, Robert E., age 52, of Fairfield, died on April 30, 2017. Born in Hackensack, he was formerly of Ridgefield settling in Fairfield 12 years ago. He was a Senior Airman and an Intelligence Operations Specialist in the Air Force from 1985 - 1993 decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He retired as a Detective Sergeant in 2015 from the Ridgefield Police Department after 20 years, and previously, he was a Probation Officer four years with the Bergen County Probation Services in Hackensack. In his retirement, he worked for the Garfield Board of Education in the security department at the Preschool Annex at Three Saints and Head Start. He was past president of the Ridgefield PBA Local 330 from 2000-2008, and a member of the PBA Local 600 for retired personnel. He was also the founder and president of Ruff Start Animal Rescue, Inc. in Fairfield. Loving husband of 19 years to Susan (nee Calandriello), devoted father of Robert E. Williams and his beloved pets, dear brother of Robin (James) Roberts, dear son-in-law of Joan Calandriello, brother-in-law of Cornelius (Allyson) Calandriello, Jr., John (Diana) Calandriello, Elaine Bilin, and Gail (Charles) Pivirotto, and devoted uncle of Kyle, Kurt, Michael, Jacqueline, Daniel, Leah, Angelica, and William. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert E. And Annette Williams, his father-in-law, Cornelius Calandriello, Sr. and his nephew, C.J. Calandriello. Visiting Friday 3 to 8 pm. The funeral is Saturday, May 6, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a 10:45 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for the Warrior Dog Foundation. The Williams family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
