Obituary for Kevin John Houlis

Kevin John Houlis
HOULIS, Kevin John, age 32, of Garfield, passed away on May 13, 2017. He is the loving father of Gavin Tyler Houlis, loving son of Paul and Colleen Houlis, and loving brother of Rev. Paul C. Houlis. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Patricia O’Neill, and Irene Adams. He leaves behind his grandmother, Margaret O'Neill, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, his former wife, Rani and so many friends, including his dog, Sparky. Kevin was the life of the party and always brought a smile to so many people. He was an extremely hard worker, having worked in the steel industry for over 10 years. Kevin will always be remembered for being a star athlete. He was so proud to play varsity baseball as a freshman and starting varsity quarterback as a sophomore. He also pitched a perfect game in an All-Star Little League game, but his greatest and proudest accomplishment was his son; his “pumpkin” Gavin, the light of his life. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and will forever be missed but we believe we will be with him again one day in Heaven. Visiting Saturday 7 to 9 pm, Sunday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Monday, May 22, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to an NJBEST 529 College Savings Plan for his son, Gavin. Send checks payable to NJBEST 529, c/o Tim O'Neill, 10 Harness Road, New City, NY 10956.
