Obituary for Laura L. Hickswa (Andreano)

HICKSWA, Laura L. (nee Andreano), age 83, of Sewell, NJ, died on May 18, 2017. She was born in Lodi on April 15, 1934, the daughter of Nicola and Giovanina Andreano. She was educated in Lodi and Clifton living in Clifton most of her adult life moving to Bloomville, NY in 1997 and settling in Sewell three years ago. Mrs. Hickswa was very active in her community and was a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Delhi, NY, president of the Kortright Senior Club in NY, and president and founder of the Clifton Girls Club and later was appointed to the Board of Directors. In addition, she was past president of the Clifton Girls Softball League, started the Clifton Softball Team for the girls in the Eastern Division, and was a Den Mother to Cub Pack 17 of Clifton. She was a People Greeter, known as “Grandma” to all the associates as well as the customers, at Walmart Supercenter in Oneonta, NY before retiring in 2008. She is predeceased by her husband, Russell in 2008. Loving mother of Jean Malinowski and husband Paul, Stephen Hickswa and wife Brenda, and Susan Lucich and husband Gianfranco, dear sister of Gloria Parrienello and husband John, and cherished grandmother of Jason D’Agostino and wife Courtney, Michael Malinowski, Bradford and Andrew Hickswa, Matthew, Amanda and twins Jonathan and Mark Lucich. Visiting Saturday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with an 8:30 pm chapel service. Private cremation. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for Parkinson Research.
