KOPEC, Wanda B. (nee Bakaj), age 94, formerly of Garfield, died after a lengthy illness on August 12, 2017. Wanda was a resident of Care One Morris in Parsippany. In her younger years, Wanda was a telephone operator before marrying and becoming a housewife and mother. Prior to her illness, Wanda loved to watch football and Jeopardy, do crossword puzzles and chat with her friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Emil Kopec in 1997, her son, Robert Kopec in 2007, her parents, Mary and George Bakaj, and her siblings, John, Michael, and Stanley Bakay, Jean Gregory, and Victor Bakaj. Wanda is survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting Wednesday 9 to 10 am followed by a 10 am chapel service. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack. Memorial contributions may be made to Market Street Mission, Morristown. The Kopec family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
