Obituary for Sophie Scalera
SCALERA, Sophie (nee Koshko) age 98 of Garfield, NJ died on August 24, 2017. She was born in Cinco, West Virginia, residing there for 3 years, Wallington, NJ for 25 years, before moving to Garfield 70 years ago. Sophie was a member of the Garfield AARP, Golden Agers, the Belmont Garden Residents and a past member of the TAMS at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin School. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph, in 1986 and brother, Al Kashko. She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Trella ( husband Former Bergen County Police Chief and Sheriff Joel), Rosemarie Lawley ( husband Donald ), Geri Stolz ( husband Butch ), and Karen Stack, also 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Visiting Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. the Aloia Funeral Home, Garfield. The funeral is Monday, August 28, arriving at the funeral home at 10 am followed by an 11am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
