Obituary for Gaspare Serafino Pappacena

PAPPACENA, Gaspare Serifino, age 90, of Lodi, died on November 27, 2017. Born in Gragnano-Naples, Italy, he emigrated to the United States at the age of 29 settling in Lodi 61 years ago. He was a freight handler 35 years with APA Transport in North Bergen retiring in 1985, and he was a member of Teamsters Local 617 in Ridgefield. Before coming to the United States, Gaspare served 18 months in the Italian Army and then enlisted in the Carabinieri for seven years. He is predeceased by two sisters and a brother. Gaspare is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances (nee Tuzzolo), beloved father of Joseph Pappacena and wife Denise, Michael Pappacena and wife Bonnie, and John Pappacena, cherished Poppy of four grandchildren, Kristen, Lauren, Jeremy, and Marisa, and dear brother of Antonio and Alberto Pappacena. Visiting Friday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Saturday, December 2, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Entombment Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery and Mausoleum, Fair Lawn. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
