Harvey Hudspeth  McClure
McCLURE, Harvey Hudspeth, Aug 26,1926 - Feb 7, 2018. Beloved husband of wife Irene (Marchison) & son of Charles & Kathleen McClure of Millington NJ, where Harv was born & raised on the family farm. He graduated New Brunswick High in 1944, with varsity letters in baseball & football, & is a WWII veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre in the 511th Parachute Infantry, 457 Field Artillery Battalion, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He trained horse calvary soldiers to ride, was on his unit boxing & basketball teams, & as a communications lineman at HQ, Hirosaki Japan, led reconn missions. After attending engineering college in Plattsburg NY, he worked on the family farm in Middlebush NJ, played baseball & married Irene in 1949. Kenneth was born 1950 & Gregory 1951. Harv built his own house and drove oil & gas tanker trucks for Hess Oil in Perth Amboy NJ, then relocated to Pennsauken to manage the Hess fleet in 1959. In 1961, he started his trucking business delivering concrete & steel products by 18-wheelers in the Eastern US & by 1979 was a mechanic in his truck repair shop in Cinnaminson. Harv was a mentor to all & freely gave his gifts of analytical thinking & knowledge. He is predeceased by James & Ken, of McClure Excavating, Hainesport NJ. He leaves behind: wife Irene of 69 years & business manager, & son Greg, an attorney in Venice CA; grandchildren Melissa Lewis (husband Matt, children Tommy, Tyler, Andrew), Kenny (wife Lindsay, children Cayla, Savannah, Levi), & Katy McClure; sisters-in-law Betty, Vera, Jean & Susan. Harv lived a full & rewarding life & now joins James & Ken in eternal peace. Family & friends are invited to gather at Happy Hour Restaurant, Maple Shade NJ from 6-10 pm Thur, Feb 15.
