Michael A.  Nicastro
NICASTRO, Michael A., age 84, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on December 27, 2011. He was a Military Policeman in the Army during WWII decorated with the Victory Medal, a parishioner of Most Holy Name Church in Garfield, and a charter member of the 20th Century Athletic Association in Garfield. He owned and operated Mike’s Fruit and Vegetables in Lodi retiring in 1987. He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Josephine, in January of 2011, and his sister, Lucy Gubitosi. He is survived by two sons, Andrew and his wife Charlene, and Joseph and his wife Mary, a daughter, Michele Koptyra and her husband David, 5 grandchildren, David and his wife Marigrace, Anthony and his wife Jessica, Paul, Amanda, and Samantha, and 4 great-grandchildren HollyAnne, Lincoln, David, and Katelyn. The funeral is Friday, December 30, 2011, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 am followed by a 9:30 am mass at Most Holy Name Church, Garfield. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. Visiting Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Nicastro family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077). In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations for Deborah Heart and Lung Center. Condolences/Directions visit aloiafuneral.com
