Obituary for John M. Oddo
ODDO, John M., age 87, of Garfield, died on June 20, 2014. Born in NY, NY he lived there for 2 years, Lodi for 29 years, and Garfield the past 56 years. He was a WWII Marine Veteran, a member of the Marine Corps League - Lakeland Detachment # 744, VFW Post 2867, and the Catholic War Veterans, both of Garfield. He worked as a chemist for Kirker Chemical, Paterson before retiring, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Garfield, and formerly a Scout Master with Troop 25, trainer with the Garfield Jr. Boilermakers, and the Camp Garfield Recreation Director. He is predeceased by a son, John A. in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lenore (Dolce), two sons, Anthony and wife Dorothy, Robert and wife Tara, a brother, Joseph and wife Angela, and four grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, David, and Emily. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 pm. The funeral is Monday, June 23, 2014, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am followed by a 11 am mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Garfield. Private Cremation. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Greater NJ Chapter. The Oddo family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077). Condolences/Directions visit aloiafuneral.com
