AVANZATO, Johanna, age 94, of Garfield, died on May 28, 2017. Born and raised in Brooklyn 27 years, she settled in Garfield 67 years ago. Johanna owned and operated Fashion Nook in Passaic for 30 years retiring in 1988, and she was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas in 1969. Loving mother of Thomas Avanzato and wife Rosemarie, and Theresa Shortino, and cherished grandmother of 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting Thursday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Friday, June 2, 2016, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
