Obituary for David E. Woolley

WOOLLEY, David E., 93, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2018 at his home in Butler, NJ. He was born on August 11, 1924 in Butler. David served in the US Army during WWII in the 102nd
Infantry Division from 1943 to 1945 in the European Campaign. After the war, he worked as a contractor, building many homes in the Butler and Kinnelon areas, and retired as a foreman with the Paterson, NJ Carpenter's Union in 1990. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion organizations.

David is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, daughter April (Woolley) Mergner and husband Billy of Reeders, PA, son David Woolley, Jr. of Katy, TX, and step-children Richard Serafin and wife Ann of Hernando, FL, Adrienne Serafin of Wall Twp., NJ, and Patty Mackey of Butler. He is also survived by grandchildren Matthew Woolley, Jacob (JD) Woolley, Kristin Hyman, Steven Serafin, Daniel Prestup, Scott Serafin, and William Mackey. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

David was a member of the class of 1943 at Butler High School and played on the football, baseball and basketball teams. He missed graduating due to enlisting in the service in December 1942. In his retirement, he was an avid reader but one of his greatest joys was watching the New York Mets and offering his encouragement when they did well and his criticism when they didn't!

There will be a celebration of life gathering at 11:00 am on August 11, 2018 at the VFW Hall, 69 Carey Ave., Butler, NJ. All of his family and friends are invited to attend.
