Obituary for Mary Tummillo (Fletcher)

TUMMILLO, Mary (nee Fletcher), age 91, of Garfield, died on November 1, 2018. Born in Winton, PA, she lived there for 7 years before moving to Jessup and Meshoppen, PA for 9 years, finally settling in Garfield 75 years ago. Mary was a senior clerk typist for 10 years with the Bergen County Tax Board in Hackensack retiring in 1999, and previously, the secretary and librarian for 15 years at Our Lady of Mount Virgin School in Garfield. Mary was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin where she was past president of the Home and School Association, past secretary of the Rosary Society, and Steward of the Month in September 2001. In addition, she was a member of the Garfield Women's Club. She enjoyed her family and hobbies, especially cooking, sewing, writing poetry and sketching portraits. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Peter in 2001, her son-in-law, William Layton, andf ive siblings, Dorothy Norton, Margaret Adams, William Fletcher, Jr., Donald Fletcher, and Christine Shoemaker. She is survived by her loving children, Marjorie Layton, Concetta Panzera (Carlino), Peter Tummillo, Jr. (Sharon), and Daniel Tummillo (Ellen), 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is a dear sister-in-law of Rose Fletcher, and a cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews. Visiting Sunday 3 to 8 pm. The funeral is Monday, November 5, 2018, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am followed by a 11 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield.
