SMITH, Robert Allen, Sr., age 70, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018.

Robert “Smitty” was born on October 5, 1948, in Newark. He graduated from Essex Technical School in 1969. In 1969, he also married his beautiful wife Rita Smith. Smitty was a resident of Hamburg for 41 years. He was a truck driver and part owner of Bowlers Transport in Elmwood Park for 25 years, but was a previous employer for 20 years. Smitty and Rita had three children, Robert Smith Jr., Valerie Smith-Ross, and Cecilia Smith. Smitty enjoyed traveling and bowling.

Smitty was predeceased by his parents, Mary Sanchez and Charles Smith, his sister, Frances Hendricks, and a brother in-law, Gilbert Hendricks, Sr.

Smitty is survived by his wife, Rita; his son, Robert Smith Jr; his daughter, Valerie Ross and son in law Herbert Ross; his daughter, Cecilia Smith and son in law Eric Schmidt; his granddaughter, Koriann Wright and grandson in law David Wright; his grandson, Dylan Ross and future granddaughter in law, Lindsay Van Tassel; his twin granddaughters, Jade Riker and Seanna Riker; their mother, Liz Riker; his granddaughter, Kassandra Rodriguez and grandson in law Anthony Rodriguez; his great granddaughters, Harlie Erickson and Raven Wright; his unborn twin great grandsons; and his two sisters, brother, and many nieces and nephews.

Smitty was privately cremated and the family will have a life celebration at a later date.
