Obituary for William W. Duff

DUFF, William W., age 93, of Garfield, died on November 27, 2018 Born in Midvale, VA, he settled in Garfield more than 70 years ago. William served during WWII as a Seaman First Class in the US Navy from 1943-1946, He served with honor on D-Day and in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. After the war, he became a master electrician working 32 years with Hewitt Robbins in Passaic retiring from there in 1987. In addition to his full time work, he owned Duff Electric in Garfield for over 50 years. William was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, a member of AARP in Garfield, and a former member of VFW Post 2867. He is predeceased by his parents, George E. and Mary Duff, and his siblings, Dorothy Chittum and James Duff. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Gaetana “Tina” (nee Alu), two devoted daughters, Joyce Yuppa and husband Jim, and MaryEllen Saks and husband Dave, five adored grandchildren, Jaclyn Yuppa, Jamie and Jeff Stellato, Benjamin and Phillicia Saks, Jacob Saks, and Jordan Yuppa, and nine dear siblings, Robert Duff, Betty O’Connell, Blanch Sorrels, Richard Duff, Mary Rachel Whitten, Annie Duff, Margaret Wilmer, Walter Duff, and Martha Jane Page and husband Charles. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Visiting Friday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Saturday, December 1, 2018, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Entombment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project.
