Obituary for Michael J. Carpentier

Print
Michael J. Carpentier, age 87, died on November 26, 2018, after a brief illness. Mike was born in Union City, NJ, the youngest of six children. He served as a tank commander in the Korean War and later attended Stevens Institute of Technology to become an electro-mechanical designer. He married his grade-school sweetheart, Louise Alfano, and they had four children whom they raised in Costa Mesa, California and Parsippany, NJ before moving to Boonton Township, NJ, and later to Brookfield Community in Belvidere, NJ. Mike will be deeply missed by his many long-time friends and loving family, including his sister Antoinette Spina, nieces and nephews, and son James and wife Rosemarie, daughter Michelle and husband Norman Russell, son Stephen and wife Karen, and daughter Laurelle Ivey, as well as his five grandchildren, who were the light of his life: Megan and husband AJ, Kelly, Bradley, Kevin, and Melissa. The world will seem a less warm and safe place without his sense of humor and constant care and concern, but those who know him best knew that he was just biding his time until he could be reunited with his beloved Louise, who preceded him in death seven years earlier. Visiting Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Saturday, December 1, 2018, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10:30 am followed by a 11:30 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that they honor Mike’s love of the Giants football team by contributing to Eli Manning’s Tackle Kids Cancer Challenge (tacklekidscancer.org). The Carpentier family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077). Condolences/Directions visit aloiafuneral.com
