Obituary for Eugene John VanLenten

VanLenten, Eugene John, age 86, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on December 10, 2018. Eugene served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954 and was a life member of the Garfield VFW Post 2867 where he was Chaplain and Jr. Vice Commander, and he was the Past Commander of the Garfield AmVets. He was an electronic engineer for 48 years working with Avion, Paramus, and retiring from PCI, Plainfield in 2002. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Arlene (nee Stellingwerf), three devoted children, Kathy Ligenzowski and husband Allen, Barbara Albanese-Reynolds, and Fred VanLenten and wife Patricia, six grandchildren, Amy, Michael (Courtney), Allen (Crystal), Kyle, Kevin, and Nicole, and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Mia, Chloe, Alexandria, Tenley, and Levi. He is predeceased by his grandson, Joseph Albanese in 2008, and his son-in-law, Peter Reynolds in 2018. Visiting Thursday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Friday, December 14, 2018, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am chapel service. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
