Obituary for Carmela Giammanco (Sclafani)

GIAMMANCO, Carmela (nee Sclafani), age 92, of Garfield, entered into eternal life on December 26, 2018. Born in Bolognetta, Sicily-Italy, she lived there for 38 years emigrating to the United States in 1964 settling in Garfield 54 years ago. Carmela was a talented seamstress for 35 years retiring in 1993 from Garfield Sportswear, Garfield, she was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. - Passaic Local, and she was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield belonging to the Rosary Society and the Padre Pio Prayer Group. She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Angelo in 1996, her son-in-law, Sefer Sabani in 1992, and her siblings, Anthony Sclafani, Maria Bordonaro, Filippa Sclafani, and Michelangelo D’Ai. She is survived by two devoted children, Maria Sabani, and Joseph Giammanco and wife Leonarda, four loving grandchildren, Sylvia Greenhalgh and husband Danny, Amy Sabani-Manganiotis and husband Johnny, Angelo Giammanco and wife Alicia, and Carlo Giammanco and wife Lauren, two cherished great-grandchildren, Giannamarie and Angelina Greenhalgh, and her beloved, Blanco. Visiting Sunday 3 to 7 pm. The funeral is Monday, December 31, 2018, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield.
