Obituary for Serafina Lo Carro (Mascarello)

Lo CARRO, Serafina (nee Mascarello), age 96, of Garfield, died on January 5, 2019. Born in Motta D’Affermo, Messina, Italy, she lived there 48 years settling in Garfield, NJ, 48 years ago. She was a seamstress 17 years retiring in 1988 from Bari Manufacturing in Passaic, she was a member of the Amalgamated Textile Workers Union-Passaic Local, and she was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield. She is predeceased by her husband, Domenico in 1993, her son, Paolo in 2003, and her brother, Rosario Mascarello in 1979. Serafina is survived by her three loving children, Antonina Atria and husband Pietro, Sebastiano Lo Carro and wife Caterina, and Rosa Mulvaney and husband Joseph, four cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Stampone and husband Frank, Lisa, Thomas, and Mark Mulvaney, two great-grandchildren, Vivienne and Jack Stampone, and a brother, Domenico Mascarello. Visiting Monday 5 to 9 pm. The funeral is Tuesday, January 8, 2019, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Entombment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for San Rocco Church for the restoration of the Madonna Addolorata in Motta D’Affermo, Italy.
