Obituary for Donald Edward Howey

FRANKFORD — It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Edward Howey, 85, of the Culver Lake area of Frankford, announces his passing after a brief illness, Thursday, Jan. 3, at Newton Medical Center. Donald was born in Wayne County, Pa., to the late George and Helen Howey on Feb. 11, 1933. He was married to Joan Wildrick (Howey) on Dec. 24, 1954. He worked as a supervisor to the mechanics at High Grade Beverage for 27 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army. He is fondly remembered as being an avid home and catalog shopper, being home with his dog, Oliver, listening to polkas, cooking, playing horseshoes and sitting by his wood stove. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Wildrick) Howey. He was also predeceased by his son, Carl L. Sr.; brothers Malvin, Kenneth, Robert, and George; and his sisters, Joyce Conklin and Phyllis Boyer. Donald will be lovingly remembered by his loving children, Donald E. Jr. (Georgette), of Sunbright, Tenn., Donna M. Bensley (Dale), of Branchville, and Charlene (Coursen) Howey (Carl), of Sussex; sisters, Irene Hardick, of Pennsylvania, and Barbara Snook, of Sussex; brother, Ronald, of Hampton; eight grandchildren, Crystal Dutzi, Carl Howey Jr., Robin Harvey, Nicole Ricci, Melody Kooger, Catherine Tomasulo, Donald Howey, and Lauren Howey; and 13 great grandchildren as well was many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Sunday, January 27, 2019, at the Newton VFW, 85 Mill Street, Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad.
