Obituary for Julius C. "Jules" Bruno

Jules Bruno, 95, of West Caldwell, former purchasing manager.

Jules Bruno passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 21, 2019, after a short illness. He was 95.

Born in Newark, NJ to Paul and Italia (née Arnone) Bruno, Jules lived in East Orange and South Orange prior to moving to West Caldwell in 1959.

Jules graduated from East Orange High School in 1941, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1946.

Jules received a BS degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University in 1949, and an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University in 1952.

Jules was a purchasing manager for Charles Beseler Company, an audio-visual photographic firm until retirement. After retirement Jules was a consultant for American Phonemeter.

Jules was a member of the American Legion, Post 185, the Air Force Association, the Train Collectors Association, the Old Guard of the Caldwell’s and Vicinity, and the Caldwell-West Caldwell Seniors. Jules enjoyed swing and jazz music, working on his model railroad, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Marion (née Salvatore), his parents, his brothers Nicholas and Gerald, his sister, Mary Zottoli, and his granddogs Toby and Winston, Jules is survived by his daughters Karen Bruno Prescott (Dave) and Lisa Franek (Paul), three grandchildren, Eric Shive, Paul and John Franek, and his granddog, Chester.

Cremation was private and handled by Aloia Funeral Home in Garfield. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, 469 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10018.
