Obituary for Salvatore "Toto" Dolcimascolo

DOLCIMASCOLO, Salvatore, age 86, of Garfield, died on June 28, 2019. Born in Lercara Friddi, Sicily-Italy, he emigrated to the US in 1966 settling in Garfield. He was a supervisor many years with Buitoni Foods in South Hackensack retiring in 1987, a member of the American Bakers Confectionary Union - NY Local, and a member of the Italian American Club in Palm Coast, Florida. He enjoyed his early retirement bowling, playing bocce, and watching soccer. He was an avid gardener and loved the warm Florida climate where he spent his winters. He is predeceased by his wife in 2006, Antonina (nee Bonanno), and brothers, Rosario, Santo, Giovanni, and Francesco. He is survived by three children, Concetta (Thomas) Maccarrone, Toni (Michael) Pitts, and Phil (Alissa) Dolcimascolo, his partner, Jane Giamanco, 10 grandchildren, T.J. (Kristin), Chris (Meghan), Stephen, Robbie, Nicholas, Timothy, Alex, Abby, Nicole, and Jessica, a great-grandson, Joseph, and three sisters, Carmela (Tommaso) Zampito, Pina (Giuseppe) Richiusa, and Maria Cagnino. Visiting Monday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Tuesday, July 2, 2019, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 11 am followed by a 12 pm mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Entombment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the American Alzheimer’s Association.
