Lo FASO, Rosario “Hoppy”, age 93, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on April 3, 2020. Hoppy served in the US Army during WWII receiving the Army of Occupation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a patrolman 29 years with the Garfield Police Department retiring in 1980, a member and past convention delegate of the Garfield PBA Local 46, and a member of the North Jersey Pigeon Club of Garfield. Hoppy spent endless hours “patroling” 20th Century Park with his friends on the bench and at the bocce ball courts. He was survived a day by the love of his life, Anita (nee Bronko), who died the following day on April 4, 2020. They had a beautiful 48 year marriage and now they will be together for eternity. He is predeceased by his siblings, Thomas, Steven, Rose Nucifora, Jennie Nucifora and Frances Scannapieco. All services were privately held.
