Obituary for Sophia Schroeder (Snitowski)
SCHROEDER, Sophia (nee Snitowski), age 98, of Wayne, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 4, 2020, due to the Coronavirus. She was born in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Gregory and Victoria Snitowski. She graduated from Passaic High School where she was a cheerleader. This led to her interest in sports. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold.
Sophia was proud of her Polish heritage and loving and dedicated to her 7 children, 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was hard-working and had many jobs. She retired from the New Jersey and New York Port Authority as an Executive Secretary. Sophia was a lover of sports, fashion, travel, especially taking cruises. She traveled around the world visiting friends and family. She had a passion for all needlework, especially needlepoint and rug hooking. She traveled the United States to attend rug-hooking camps.
Sophia lived in Wayne, New Jersey (Packanack Lake) for 55 years where she raised her children. She especially loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and was always looking forward to the next family event.
She is survived by her children: Harold, sons, Danny and Matthew, Douglas (Andrea), sons, Glen, Gregory, Eric and Jeffrey, Kenneth (Marge), sons Bryan,Kenneth and Todd, Nancy (Nick) Nechanicky, Keith, Megan, Bruce and Tyler, Geoff (Jeannie),sons, Geoffrey and Mickey, Marybeth (Alan) Hughes, Kyle, Ryan and Kelly, Amy Perry, Kevin and Victoria Young.
