RIENZI, Gerard R., of Clifton, died on June 28, 2020. Born and raised in Garfield for 54 years, he lived in Elmwood Park 11 years settling in Clifton 28 years ago. Gerard was an Inspector 25 years for the Department of Community Affairs - State of New Jersey, Trenton retiring in 1989, a parishioner of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield, a life member of the Garfield Volunteer Fire Department - Company 1, a member of the NJ Exempt Firemen’s Association, and a former member of the Garfield Volunteer Ambulance Corps. In addition, he served in the US Army during WWII. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Rose Rienzi, and a brother, Philip Rienzi. He is survived by three children, Gerilyn Gardner and husband Jack, Jeffrey Rienzi, and Gerard Rienzi and wife Barbara, his companion of 39 years, Adrianna Holm, his former wife, Josephine Rienzi, eight grandchildren, Jenna, Jed, Alyssa, John, Jessica, Stephanie, Terryann, and Sirena, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Genevieve Pfleger and husband Ralph. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 am on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Our Lady of Mount Virgin RC Church, Garfield.
