Obituary for Daniel F. Nigro

NIGRO, Daniel F., age 79, of Derry, NH, died on January 10, 2021. Born in Passaic, NJ, he lived in Garfield for 7 years before moving to Nutley through his high school years where he was a lineman for Nutley High’s football team. Dan was a proud patriot, earning an honorable discharge from the United States Army Reserves in 1967. A former resident of River Edge, Upper Saddle River, Hackensack, and Wayne, Dan had most recently settled in Derry, New Hampshire in 2020. Earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, Daniel was an information technologist for over 45 years, most recently 13 years with Montena-Taranto Foods in Ridgefield. Daniel was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin RC Church, Garfield and Holy Trinity RC Church in Hackensack. He was an avid golfer, diehard Yankee fan, and a football fan. He is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Marietta Majtenyi, two sons: Daniel Anthony and Brett and his wife Larissa, and two grandchildren, Bella and Julia Nigro and nephew John Nigro. He is predeceased by his parents, Emil and Caroline, and his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Carol Nigro. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi. Repast to immediately follow at Michele’s Restaurant in Garfield.
