PATERNA, Giuseppe, age 93, of Garfield, died on September 3, 1921. Born and raised in Buccino, Italy, he emigrated and settled in Garfield 8 years ago. He was a farmer and construction worker in Switzerland 18 years before retiring, and a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield. He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Giuseppina (nee Roviello) in 2018, and siblings, Maria, Concetta, Erminia, Carmela, Francesco, Antonio and Nicola Paterna. He is survived by two beloved daughters, Rosa Paterna-Conte and husband Costantino, and Connie Paterna-Cianni and husband Mauro, four cherished grandchildren, Joseph Conte and wife Tobi, Rosa Conte-Fernandes and husband Nuno, Amanda Cianni, and Jeremy Cianni, four adored great-grandchildren, Briella, Gianna, Brooke, and Milania, two dear brothers, Emilio Paterna and wife Lucia and Gerardo Paterna and wife Gerardina. Visiting Tuesday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Wednesday, September 8, 2021, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield.
