VERDADE, Francisco, age 83, of Garfield, died on September 25, 2021. He was born and raised in Ilhavo, Portugal for 40 years before emigrating to the United States and settling in Garfield 43 years ago. Francisco was a maintenance worker for Lincoln Park Aviation in Lincoln Park, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales RC Church in Lodi, a member of the American Portuguese Club in Lodi, and he was a member of Mortusa Portuguese Club in Newark. Francisco was also a Portuguese Army Veteran serving 14 years in Angola. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Laura (nee DaSilva), three loving children, Ana Verdade, Sonia Verdade, and Francisco Verdade with girlfriend Ashley Lopez, four dear siblings, Jose Verdade, Julia Bento, Silvina Nunes, and Rosa Pinho, and his beloved cat, Mia. Visiting Wednesday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Thursday, September 30, 2021, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at St. Francis de Sales RC Church, Lodi. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for the American Cancer Society.
