Obituary for Charles A. Artale

ARTALE, Charles A., age 88, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on February 24, 2022. Charles, a butcher by trade, worked for various supermarkets, and had his own butcher shop in Garfield. Later, he was meat manager for several area markets, including Northern NJ Regional Manager for FoodTown, and Kilroy’s Market, Glen Rock, where he retired from in 1994. A member of the Meat Cutters Local Union 464, and parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Rosanne (nee Bucaro), two children, his daughter Charlene Schmedes /husband Ed, his son Peter Artale/partner Greg Northam, three grandchildren, Matthew Schmedes, Samantha Duncan /husband Thomas and Jeffrey Artale, and newly arrived great-granddaughter, Peyton Duncan. He is predeceased by three siblings, Christopher Artale, Angela Gioe, and Constance Gazzani. Visitation: Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Saturday, March 5, 2022, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am followed by an 11 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield.
