LaMANTIA, Police Chief Thomas J., Sr., age 81, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on August 3, 2022. Thomas was a Garfield High School graduate of 1959 serving in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era, and he was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. Thomas worked for the Garfield Police Department 40 years retiring as the Police Chief in 2006, was a member of the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association and the Garfield PBA - Local 46. Thomas is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Anne (nee Fallon) in 2010 and his parents, Thomas and Angelina LaMantia. He is survived by his loving son, Thomas LaMantia, Jr. and wife Leanne, and three cherished grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, and Nicole. Visiting Sunday 2 to 6 pm. The funeral is Monday, August 8, 2022, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 11 am followed by a 12 pm chapel service. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
