The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Reverend Horst G. "Gary" Kugler can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Dominic Sarica

Dear Greta, Christa, Susanna and Joanna My wife Pat and I want to extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad. I received the news after last Thursday’s memorial service. So I feel compelled to send this sympathy message and introduce myself. Gary and I were childhood friends. We lived three houses away from each other on East Jersey Street in Elizabeth. I remember when he and your grandparents moved into the Saint Mark’s Pastors home from New York State. Although we went to different schools, I went to St. Michaels Catholic and he attended public schools, we spent our after school time together along with a third chum, Art Rennings, who now lives in Maryland. Art, Gary and I had the pleasure of getting together once a year for the past several years along with other friends that we grew up with. We called it the Reid Street Reunion. About four years ago Gary and two other school buddies, Bob Fyne and Frank Kemper came to Delaware by train to meet with Art and I for lunch and we spent the afternoon together. Gary officiated at our son’s wedding and he was there at both my mom’s and dad’s funeral. He also spent a lot of time comforting my sister Mary Ann as she was dealing with cancer treatment. The last correspondence I received from him was on March 23 replying to my check in email. He mentioned that he was still looking into back surgery, but he was swimming and exercising regularly. The news of his passing was a total shock. I’m sorry we could not meet with you all in person and be able to give you a hug but time and distance prevail. If any of you has the opportunity to be passing through Delaware please consider stopping here for a visit. Again our deepest sympathy, Dominic & Patricia Sarica 443 Glenturret Way Townsend DE 19734 302-376-6799 padom11@yahoo.com
