BARTALONE, James “Jimmy”, age 72, of Garfield, died on September 10, 2016. Born and raised in Passaic, he settled in Garfield 58 years ago. He started his career as a tile setter with the union working his way up to be the secretary, treasurer, and business manager. He then became the first resident of NJ to be President of the Tile, Marble, and Terrazzo Union - Local 7 in NY, NY where he was a member for 45 years retiring in 2007. He also was a member of the International Brick and Allied Craftsman Union, Indiana. Jimmy was proud to be a friend of Bill W. for 29 years, and was the former manager and director of the Garfield Jr. Boilermakers football program. He is predeceased by his grandmother, Katherine Lupkevich. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elaine (nee Monte), loving father of James Bartalone and wife Nicole, and Danielle Bartalone and fiancé Nino Vasi, special “Pop Pop” of Jayden James Vasi, and brother of Benjamin and Katherine Bartalone. Visiting Wednesday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral will be Thursday, September 15, 2016 arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am followed by an 11 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Private Cremation. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for the American Heart Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
