Obituary for Peter Joseph Galinis

Peter Joseph  Galinis
GALINIS, Peter Joseph, age 53, of Lodi, died on March 18, 2017. Born in Rahway, he resided in Carteret, before settling in Lodi 30 years ago. Peter graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Rutgers University - Cook College in 1987, where Peter met his future wife, Joann. At Rutgers, Peter was a member of the ROTC, later serving in the Army reserves, and reaching the rank of First Lieutenant. Peter worked for Verizon for 29 years as a facilities technician/splicer. He was a member of IBEW Local 827 and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield. Peter loved to laugh and enjoyed going to comedy shows. His knowledge of cartoons, cars, military history and the space program was impressive. Peter loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas. He was an avid crossword puzzle solver and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Beloved husband of 25 years to Joann (nee Passador), loving son to Elizabeth Galinis, dear brother to Joanne (Lee) Galinis, and brother-in-law to Maryann (Gregory) Correll. Dearest uncle to Dana, Jamie, Meghan, Ryan and Lindsay. Peter is also survived by his father-in-law, Carlo Passador. He is predeceased by his father, Joseph Galinis and his brother, Paul Galinis. Visiting Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Friday, March 24, 2017, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am, followed by an 11 am Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield.
