HORVATH, Phyllis (nee Sassano), age 85, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on November 4, 2016. She worked as a Supervisor for the Bergen County Superintendent of Elections in Hackensack since 1980, she was a member of the Garfield Jaycees, a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, and a member of the Rosary Society. Loving mother of Edward and wife Linda, William, and Kenneth, dear sister of Dominick Sassano, John Sassano, and Margaret Walsh, and cherished grandmother of 4 grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers Danny and Frank Sassano. Visiting is Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Thursday, November 10, 2016, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am followed by a 11 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Garfield VFW Post 2867.
